Chicago Urban Art Society (CUAS)

Love Flows Both Ways’  is an exploration of the nexus of street culture and fine art and the manifestation of this intersection in the form of the artist multiple. Contemporary art’s love affair with street culture is long and well documented, but street culture’s return love for contemporary art is a more recent phenomena.  There is an apparent juxtaposition occurring between the ‘street’ and fine art.  It is this very raw and urban artistic reflection that allows lowbrow art makers to present work in high-end settings or displayed within mainstream outlets.  Some art makers use through methods be it, iconography, text, sculptural infusion, DIY, found objects and mixed media in an almost populist approach.  Thus, allowing collectors of all income levels and backgrounds, access to these art works  in purchase power, visibility, and connectivity.

The Chicago Urban Art Society (CUAS) will present a contemporary museum-like  quality exhibition featuring cutting edge artwork by high end lowbrow American and European street artists including: Banksy, Bast, Faile, Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey, Kaws, Buff Monster, Crash, Space Invader, Takashi Murakami, Damien Hirst, Saber, Slinkachu, Barry Mcgee, and Ray CRO Noland, just to name a few.

Curated by Oliver Hild of the Maxwell Colette Gallery along with creative support by CUAS Co-Founder and Creative Director, Peter Kepha.  This limited engagement viewing is a not-to-miss opportunity for Chicago’s gallerist and collector community.  The showcase timing is perfect with the acclaimed release of ‘Exit Through The Giftshop’ movie and the recent street displays by English stencil artist Bansky in Chicago along with Ray Noland’s street stencil imagery of former governor Rod Blagovejich.  Exhibiting limited edition prints or original works of art, these pieces will be available to purchase.
